Looking back on 10 years at the Fountain Dental Practice!
This week marks my ten year anniversary of joining the Fountain Dental Practice. I can’t believe how the years have flown! But when I look back there have certainly been some changes along the way. I joined the practice in June 2008, then 8 years qualified, having worked in several NHS practices and a few hospital oral surgery departments. I had become disillusioned with dentistry working in NHS practices, and felt I was unable to offer the high standard of care to my patients that I wanted to. I wanted to keep pushing myself to be a better dentist, growing and developing, learning new and advanced skills and techniques. But I felt I was able to do this in an NHS system that gave me little time to gain as many “units of dental activity” as possible so I could meet my targets.
I decided it was either give up NHS dentistry or give up dentistry altogether. It made no sense to give up dentistry completely without trying to work fully privately first. But I knew I needed to up my game to get a job in the competitive market of London based private dentistry. So I enrolled on a Masters degree in cosmetic and restorative dentistry. During my time completing my Masters degree I applied for and was offered a position working at the Fountain Dental Practice. In my first few weeks the practice underwent a major refurb and I have loved working in my large, airy, well fitted-out surgery with a view of the garden.
I immediately started enjoying dentistry again and relished new challenges. Over the years I have started providing orthodontic treatment, implant treatment, and have invested in a diode laser amongst other things. I set up this website and have been proud to display countless examples of my work and positive reviews from patients. I have started writing for dental journals, and have become involved with both the British Association of Cosmetic Dentistry and the Dental Law and Ethics Forum. I also managed to fit in having my third child!
We are lucky to have always had a really great team at the Fountain Dental Practice. A few team members have come and gone over the years, and are sadly missed, but at all times we have had a really strong team. This week it was lovely to enjoy lunch out with the team to celebrate my ten year anniversary. I would like to thank all the team for their support over the years and for being such a fantastic bunch to work with. I would also like to thank all our wonderful patients at the Fountain Dental practice who have been a pleasure not just to treat, but to get to know and build relationships with over the years. I look forward to many more happy years there to come!
